Elizabeth Bowen, Espionage and the Second World War
This talk was made by writer and academic Eibhear Walshe. In his novel, he deals with the wartime espionage of the Irish novelist, Elizabeth Bowen. He describes her experience of living through the Blitz in London, her writing of her celebrated spy novel, The Heat of the Day, her love affair with the Canadian diplomat Charles Ritchie, and her secret reporting on Irish neutrality for the British Government.
